Why do you I like this item?

Durability – The heavyweight vinyl holds up, even during my most rigorous projects. Not long ago, I was involved in a major project that required daily meetings to review multiple spreadsheets, data sheets, marketing materials and more.  The pile of paper got large fast, but the folder never faltered or ripped – it held strong throughout the entire duration. Plus, I like the non-glare, pebble-grain finish of the material.

Versatility – Being available in both letter and legal sizes helps to keep various materials organized. This versatility came in handy during that long project. A lot of the documents used were letter size, but there were a few spreadsheets that were so large, they need to be printed on legal size paper.  When that happened, I conveniently filed those papers in the larger folder. Sometimes, I put a smaller folder inside the larger one with the legal sized spreadsheets, if the contents were closely related.

Color – I love to organize by color, and when the project warrants that, I turn to the color backed version to lend some assistance. With folders available in black, red, green, blue and clear, I am able to color code my assignments. Again, with that recent project, there were many aspects to the overall project and I took advantage of the colors to help divide it up by task – black = website additions and revisions, green = new marketing materials, red = new packaging components, and on and on.

Last year, the write-on project folder was my favorite “new” product. With all the help these have given me lately, the deluxe vinyl project folder is my favorite “old” product!

Clip Style

Like I have said before, the clip holder is the most popular badge we carry. It is because it is so versatile to wear. The clip pivots around the badge, allowing you to hang it in almost any direction. But, if you don’t have a natural seam or break in your attire, such as a shirt pocket or an area the buttons together, this badge can be difficult to wear.

Pin Style

If you are wearing one of those articles of clothing that doesn’t work very well with a clip, the pin is an excellent option. The pin can go through most types of clothing and is guarded so you don’t have to worry about snagging occurring.

Combo Clip/Pin

Don’t know what kind of attachment you’ll want to use from day-to-day? This option gives you the choice to change it up without having to change your badge holder.

Magnetic

This plastic badge holder is great because it won’t mar clothing in anyway. There isn’t a pin to poke a hole in a shirt or a clip to leave a crease.  Because its design, this type of tag works best on clothing with pockets, such as a suit jacket or button down shirt or blouse.

Hanging Badge with Elastic Cord or Bolo Cord

If you want to be able to quickly slip your badge on and off, then the hanging option is the choice for you.  It fits nicely over any shirt with a collar.

Hanging Credentials Wallet

The hanging wallet is great for those long events, where you don’t want to lug around numerous odds and ends across miles (yes, you know it is miles sometimes!) of trade show floors. In addition to holding your name tag, the wallet also has an open back pocket and zippered back pocket to hold extras, like business cards, papers, pens, keys, money and more.

And all badge holders included are 4 x 3 size.  Since that is a standard size, it fits the majority of name tags.  And if smaller badges are handed out, those will also fit in the larger holder without a problem.

Also, here’s a convention tip for all attendees – keep a stash of business cards in the back of your badge holder, behind your name tag. That way, when you happen upon a booth of interest, your contact information is conveniently at your finger tips, to hand to the booth staff.

While the majority of page protectors are top loading, there are side loading versions available too. Side loading vinyl sheet protectors are good for frequently used documents.  And I don’t just mean documents that you look at a lot, but also documents that need to be taken out of the protector often.

For instance, say you have a standardized form that is frequently photocopied.  Keep the original, “clean” copy in the holder, and it will stay wrinkle-free, but still be easy to access.

Or, do you have a list of things to do that you constantly look at and check off items as they are completed? I do. I use this heavyweight protector and keep it in my binder, with other frequently-accessed project materials. Plus, I like the clean look the vinyl holder provides.

The two pocket hanging ticket holder is used in our sample room. It holds a product catalog, in the large pocket, for employees to reference and a notepad and pen, in the smaller pocket, to write down products that need to be restocked.

Here is a magnetic ticket holder with a sign about keeping this door closed at all time, for safety reasons. Behind it is our manufacturing facility.

This self-adhesive pocket holds a State of Illinois notice and is posted on the wall, near other employee notifications, such as labor laws and fare wage regulations.

The bio name badge holder features three hanging options and an additional additive in the poly that causes it to biodegrade in landfills.

The biodegradable name badges look like the other plastic name badge holders. There is one main different though – the poly used to make this holder has an additional additive that causes the plastic to breakdown in landfills and leaves no toxic residue. One more thing about this name tag – it is also recyclable and compostable – BONUS!

The badge doesn’t have a clip, pin or magnet attached to it, but does come with a hanging cord, plus a few handy holes that increase your hanging options.  The three round holes across the top, allow you to use the holder with a pin. But the other funky-looking cut-out at the top lets you slip the badge onto any shirt button. I’ve blogged about that neat feature before, while talking about meeting introductions.

In addition to the product being environmentally friendly, the packaging is, as well. The product is packed in SFI certified packaging. This means that the paper used on the packaging came from a forest with responsible forestry practices.

So after the closing, we walked out of the building with a giant stack of documents and I immediately organized them in a binder, using legal size sheet protectors. (Okay, not immediately, but I did the following day after I bought a new legal size binder.)  I just did not like the thought of all those papers loose in the file cabinet or a drawer. I like having all the signed forms in one place.

Some forms were multiple pages. For those, I used the super capacity legal size holders. The tuck-in flap keeps everything secure. Both page protectors used are made from heavyweight material, so they will last a long time, which is good since we plan on being in the house for a long time.

Once done with the closing papers, I decided to add the rest of the real estate documents, such as the contract we signed when we first placed an offer on the house and the home inspection report.

I realize I sound like an organization geek, but that is what works for me. Just wait until you see how I organize the new basement shelves!

I like knowing that I can stay organized, whether in the office or at home, with these products. And when I am done using them, I also like knowing that these items won’t leave a footprint on the Earth. And what, you may ask, did I do with my old project folders, which were not biodegradable? Well, those are recyclable, where facilities are available, and I just so happen to live in a community that accepts all forms of plastic (#1-7) for recycling. Check with facilities in your area before throwing out that old report cover or expanding file; you may be able to recycle them.

Remember, this product comes in many sizes, capacity style, weights, materials, finishes, and even colors.

Material – Vinyl or Polypropylene? While both options are durable, poly seems to be the leader in the category for its ability to provide “no photocopy transfer”. However, vinyl page protectors do feature a traditional look and heavy feel.

Finish – There are three main options here – clear, reduced glare and non-glare. Again, this comes down to personal preference, so choose what is best for you.

Sizes – The majority of the sheet protectors are available to hold letter size documents, but we also carry holders that protect legal, A4 and mini half sheet (8 ½ x 5 ½) sized paper.

Capacity - Where to begin with this trait? Yes, most people use the plastic protector for one or two sheets of paper.  However, there are instances where you need to be able to fit a little bit more than that in one holder.  That’s where the capacity factor comes in; available in different styles, including a high capacity poly, super capacity vinyl with tuck-in flap, top load and side load poly with velcro flap. These are all great for catalogs, reports, manuals and more.

Weight – This feature really comes down to what you want out of the holders – durability, strength, economy, etc. With weights ranging from super heavyweight to heavyweight to standard weight to economy weight, you will be able to find what you need.

Color – Using color to organize is not a new technique, but the options available are endless.  Color appears in numerous ways through this product line – whole color protectors, colored edges, color tabbed holders. And remember those capacity protectors? They are available in color too!

Yes, I know I am a bit of a Type A personality, but there is nothing wrong with having a little order somewhere in life. And for all the Type B personalities, just because you use sheet protectors (admit it, you do), doesn’t mean you still aren’t your easy-going self.

I’m always blogging about this item because it truly helps organize in so many aspects of the office. On the wall, next to a common area telephone, is a self-adhesive holder that displays the company directory. In our sample room, is a hanging shop ticket holder that holds a C-Line catalog for easy reference. All doors that lead to our manufacturing factory display a magnetic holder with a safety notice that the door must be shut at all times. The production department uses stitched holders throughout the facility, including hanging them at the machines, to hold our manufacturing shop orders.

As I am writing this post, Karmen, a co-worker, says you can also use the holders to be organized at home too, in case you want to begin your tidy resolution there.  She says, “Try using the smaller sized self-adhesive holders to organize your holiday decorations. A lot of people pack their decorations, gift wrap and everything else associated with the December holidays in boxes and bins, but never know what is in each one until they open them the following year.
