Fun, festive name badge holders for your holiday party

The annual C-Line holiday party is this week. It is an employee only event where everyone knows each other’s names, so name tags aren’t needed. But, if that was not the case, you can be sure that I’d be using name badge holders for all attendees. Here’s how I would do it:

  1. First, choose the perfect plastic badge holders for the occasion. Usually, people tend to dress a bit fancier at holiday parties, versus a summer picnic. So I would go with the clip style name badge. It is versatile and can easily be worn by everyone. Plus, once you know what size holder you are using (4 x 3 versus 3 1/2 x 2 1/4), you can easily create the inserts on your computer.
  2. Next, get the list of all people invited. Be sure you know who has responded (and how) and who has not.
  3. Create custom name badges for all invitees. I’d make them fun and festive by including a holiday image and using color for the text. To make things easier, download the printer template for your name badge inserts from the Template Gallery.
  4. Print badge inserts for everyone that was invited. Sometimes, people don’t RSVP to an event, but still attend. This way, I am armed with a name badge, should that person arrive.
  5. Print extra blank inserts with the event logo or theme image only. Also, make sure you have a good marker or pen that is the same color as the text on the printed inserts. This is for when an invitee brings an unexpected guest. They won’t feel left out while at the event if their badge looks so similar to everyone else’s.
  6. Insert all paper name tags into the holders only for guests who have responded with “Yes, I will attend.” Also, bring the printed inserts for all the “No” and non-responders.
  7. Arrange badges on a welcome table in some sort of order – alphabetical by first or last name or by table number (if there is assigned seating). Greet guests and help them find their badges as they arrive. You’ll also be there and ready for when to accommodate the non-responders that show up and the new guests that weren’t on the list.
  8. Now, it is time for you to enjoy the party. You have successfully outfitted your event in chic, festive name badges.
  9. Happy Holidays!
