Use a clip name badge holder to give your houseguests a treat

The other day, a friend of mine told me about her use of the clip name badge holder kit. She doesn’t use it in a typical way though; she uses the holder to make cute door signs for guests in her home.

“How?”, you ask? Here’s what she does:

  1. Think about the rooms where guests may use and want privacy in, i.e. the guest bedroom and bathroom.
  2. Create the signs from badge inserts by using the printer template for the product being used – a 4 x 3 clip badge holder, in this case.

Make it fun and use cute sayings that correspond to the room the sign will hang from. Remember to make two inserts per holder – one that says the room is occupied and one that says it is free. Here are some samples – “Asleep… please don’t wake me yet”, “Someone is using this bathroom”, etc.

  3. Print the inserts, put them in the holder and use to the swivel clip to attach the holder to a lanyard, beaded neck chain or string.
  4. When the guest arrives, let them know about the signs and tell them to enjoy their relaxing vacation.

In addition to the holders being reusable, the inserts are completely customizable. She does have some plain inserts that she can use for any of her guests. But if she has time before their arrival, she prints custom signs like, “Julie is sleeping now, please come back later.” or “Sarah is awake, come on in!”.

Now, you may also ask yourself “Why?”. Here is her reasoning – “Because it makes the guests truly feel like they are on vacation; like they are staying at a quaint inn or bed and breakfast. It is their own ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign.”
