41 years

What does your job entail?
Most of my job involves purchasing products and materials. I am also responsible for the finance area; I work with our bankers and accounting firm. I also oversee inventory control and work with information systems.

What is your typical day like?
Reviewing inventory, making decisions on what products to buy, meeting with vendors.

Describe your favorite memory from work?
I still remember my very first day when our plant manager walked me through the factory and introduced me to every employee in the building. It meant a lot and showed me that this was very much a family.

What do you like most about your job?
I like the variety. Over the years I have been responsible at various times, for inventory, purchasing, accounting, shipping, the California distribution center, MIS and HR. I traveled to Europe to buy production equipment and used to work trade shows and meet with customers. I get to work with marketing on developing new products. Just a wide variety of things.

Where are you from?
I grew up in Hope, Indiana which is in the southern part of the state.

Where did you go to school?
I have a BA in economics from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working (e.g. hobbies)?
I read a book a week. I play golf, fish, snowmobile, and bike ride. I travel a lot with my wife and have 3 (soon to be 4) grandkids that I spend a lot of time with.

Who are your favorite sports teams?
Bears, Cubs, and Blackhawks in that order.

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
I received a congressional appointment to the United States Naval Academy my senior year in high school. But chose to attend DePauw on a full ride academic scholarship.
