Dry Erase Pockets – Study Aid or Packing Support?
Enjoy our Guest blog post!
As you know, dry erase pockets are a wonderful tool for studying, but I’ve found a new way to incorporate them around the home – as a packing list!
Last year, my family purchased a recreational home for use by all of the family members. My husband and I use it as a weekend getaway, since it is a short 75 minute drive door-to-door. We leave a lot of things at the weekend house, so that we don’t have pack them every time; things like shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, etc. But, there are some things that we just don’t have “two” of and need to bring back and forth with each trip.

For every weekend getaway, I would make a new list of “standard” items to bring, such as eyeglasses, iPod, mobile device chargers, running and biking gear. This was not a major undertaking – we’re usually there only 2-3 days. That is, until I left my sunglasses off of the list and didn’t want to be wasteful by buying something I truly did not need another pair of, spending the Independence Day holiday without them!
Vowing to not be unprepared like that again, I created a list of standard items that (almost) always make the trip and placed it in a 6×9 reusable dry erase pocket. When packing for each excursion up North, I check off each item as it goes into the duffel bag. When returning home, I wipe off the marks and the packing list is ready for our next venture out of town.

This system got me thinking that this is also a great way to keep track of other routine activities, such as household chores, bill paying, things to-do and more.
Do you use dry erase pockets in a way other than for study? If so, tell me about below.
